Landscape and Memory: The Art of Frank Sullivan
On View: Through July 4
Gallery Hours: Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, 11-2, starting June 18th
Landscape and Memory: The Art of Frank Sullivan is a solo exhibition exploring color, texture, and emotional resonance through abstract painting inspired by the language of landscape.
Sullivan approaches painting as a physical and responsive process, working in oil and pastel to build layered surfaces shaped by gesture, intuition, and material presence. Drawing from the landscapes of Aroostook County, his work does not depict specific places but instead translates memory and atmosphere into abstract form.
Influenced by musical structure, Sullivan treats color as harmony—balancing tension, rhythm, and release through improvisation. Each painting becomes an exploration of emotional and spatial experience, inviting viewers to engage with the work as an object in real space rather than a representation.
