Program Coordinator

The Boreal Theater has a part-time grant-funded contract position open for a Program Coordinator to support Boreal’s expanding operations. Dependent upon the candidate’s experience and interest, the Program Coordinator will work with the Board, consultants, vendors, collaborators, and volunteers across some or all of the following tasks:

• marketing programs via digital, print, radio, and networking channels, including social media and local print distributions

• coordinating a subset of shows and events, including some with local schools

• executing or supporting yearly membership drives

• bookkeeping

• assisting with show/exhibit set-up, hosting, and break-down

• potentially other activities depending on experience

The Boreal Theater is a convertible 50-seat black box space that functions as both a performing arts venue and a visual arts gallery located at 215 Penobscot Avenue in downtown Millinocket. In 2024, the Boreal Theater offered 56 different shows, exhibits, and other programs for the Katahdin community and its visitors. Boreal’s mission is to bring cultural enrichment and engagement to our local community through the performing and visual arts.

This position is a 20-hour-per-week contract position. The position is exempt from overtime. It doesn’t include insurance, sick days, holiday pay, or other financial benefits. It is based in Millinocket, pays $32,500 ($31.25/hr), and reports to the President of the Board of Directors. The position may be completed remotely on a semi-flexible basis, except for scheduled events and hard deliverable deadlines.

Required Qualifications

• Residence in or near to the service area (Katahdin region)

• Proficient with Microsoft Office and Facebook

• Able to problem solve and work independently

• Proficient communication skills via email and phone, including coordination with artists, performers, sponsors, vendors, and local collaborators

• Weekend and evening availability to support some performances and exhibits

• Graphic design

• Square and retail operations

• Quickbooks

• Customer service

• Social media marketing

• French speaking

• Theater and/or gallery operations, including audio/visual

• Provision of own laptop/technology
