Noel Genova and Rodney Mashia
April 15 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Noel Genova and Rodney Mashia on April 15th, 2023 at 6:00 PM at the Boreal Theater in Millinocket, Maine.
Noel grew up in a home with many types of music, including a wide range of threads of what is now known as Americana. She started playing guitar at age 12, taught to her mostly by her Dad.
She was already quite familiar with the music of southern Appalachia, but that knowledge grew when she moved to east Kentucky with her late husband, where they both worked in clinics in the coal mining area between Hazard and Harlan. Living in New England, and for a year in England, has given her a broad experience with “folk music” from America, Canada, Ireland and the British Isles.
Never a professional musician, she has been invited to play in many settings since she was 14. Her first gig was in a church coffee house, with friends from school, chaperoned by her parents. That was terrifying, but she has come to love sharing some of the music which is a foundation for our musical culture, commonly known as roots music. This is best done in small, community based venues, such as Boreal Theater, or in people’s homes.
She has played many gigs with Rodney Mashia over the past 8 years. He brings a very different background to American roots music. Playing and performing with him is a joy.
She met Randy Jackson when she moved to Maine in 1982. She was a newbie Physician Assistant (PA) at the time, and he was the voice of experience—the epitome of a fantastic PA. A credit to our state, and to our profession. It’s an honor to have been invited to play at his newly opened venue, Boreal Theater.
Welcome to the Boreal Theater. Located at the gateway to Millinocket’s downtown, the Boreal Theater is far more than a 48-seat black box community theater. With “community” placed at the heart of its design, the convertible space also function as a:
– Community meeting space
– Education & healing space for groups & individuals
– Art gallery
– Rental space for events
– Prominent downtown gateway presence
Boreal Theater is excited to be working with neighboring non-profit organizations to contribute to our downtown development and vibrancy. We are always looking for sponsors for our shows.
