DOCUMENTARY: BARBARIAN UTOPIA
This 91-minute documentary follows filmmaker Thaddeus Lamar as he undertakes the ultimate challenge: hiking the entire 2,185 miles of the Appalachian Trail in 2014. Along the way, he captures his personal journey alongside the stories of over 100 fellow thru‑hikers, exploring the physical demands, emotional breakthroughs, and surprising camaraderie found on America’s iconic footpath. What emerges is both a moving portrait of the Appalachian Trail’s landscape and legacy and a tribute to the diverse community that sustains it. Through interviews, storytelling, and trail‑side footage, Barbarian Utopia celebrates the history, the outdoors, and the unexpected connections made on the journey.
