Christmas Show – “It’s A Big Night Out There” (One Act Play)

The Boreal Theater is delighted to feature: “It’s A Big Night Out There” – A one act play by local Portland playwright Payne Ratner on Saturday, December 14th, 2024 at 6:30 pm.
“A lonely boy, and a big building, in a big city, in a big world gets what he didn’t expect on Christmas Eve, the biggest night”.
The role of “Sandy” is played by Payne Ratner and “Ben” is played by Simon Ratner.

Biographies
Payne H. Ratner (playwright / actor)
Payne holds an MFA in fiction from Stonecoast. He writes fiction and plays. His short story “Fish Story” won the New Guard Review’s Machigonne Fiction Contest. His story, “Fullness” was a finalist in the Fractured Lit flash fiction contest. Several of his plays have won awards and been produced in Boston, San Francisco, New York, and Maine. One ten-minute play is published by Samuel French. He makes a living writing radio commercials which are broadcast nationally. He has acted in multiple theaters and productions in Maine and Kansas.
Simon A. Ratner (actor)
Simon is happy to be on stage again with his Father in this holiday favorite, It’s A Big Night Out There. Simon was active in theater every year of his childhood since grade school. He is excited for the opportunity to “tread the boards” once again since graduating and moving on to daily life as a working adult and hopes to get back to the stage regularly again.
Renee St. Jean (actor / Boreal Board of Directors member)
Renee began acting in college and went on to work professionally in theater, film and commercials. She has changed her artistic exploits to music in the last 15 years and relishes the opportunity to be onstage again.
